"the constant belly button pondering, poring over every god damned little detail/clue concerning the whereabouts of this fest is about the sillyiest geeky thing I have seen with phans."

I have a few days at work where I'm waiting on people until I can do my job. What else should I do? :)

"do you really think this is time well spent in your life? is all this speculation really that important?"

Yes it is...

When Phish came back @ Hampton... I had no $$$ to fly out there
When Phish announced the 1st leg... I had no $$$ to fly to any of the shows
When Phish announced the 2nd leg... I had no $$$ to fly to any of the shows

If Phish plays in Indio, I will finally get to see my beloved Phish after waiting 5 years.

If Phish doesn't play within reasonable driving distance this year...kms :o(

Why are the obsessive fans of a silly geeky band observing over something silly any geeky? You've got me there.

So if the balloons do return with the official festival announcement, I'm calling a waaaay premature "Hot Air Balloon Band Entrance"

I am the master of multi-tasking (i.e. waiting until the last minute to do everything...hello FOUR CD Reviews due today!), and if I want to hang out with old and newb friends on PT, well, then I do it, man.

I still don't understand why you people think they can't bring a state back? were there rules layed out beforehand? If they want to they could black out all the states and then pop up Mexico and say it's there. Jesus. You people are retarded. they can do whatever they want to. and yes I'm praying for west coast.

I'm going to take a page out of zzyzx's book here:

Pro-Indio factors:

1. It is impossible to keep an event of this size truly secret. Information came quickly from many, many different occupational groups who would be in a position to know ahead of time. In addition, many people who have been extremely credible in the past were consistent with this information.

2. Yes, things can change. But see #1 - the same information would begin to filter down from the various occupations that would be contacted if a new venue had been chosen, and someone, somewhere would know about it - very likely lots of people. There is a complete lack of alternate venue chatter, in any form.

3. Weather and other practical considerations limit the appropriate sites. As zzyzx points out, bands do not voluntarily dilute their profit by competing unnecessarily with other large acts. If something fell through, it would not be kept a tightly controlled secret - it would be impossible, as everyone in the Phish org. would be scrambling very publicly to put together an alternate plan, and in communication with others in the industry.

Not Indio factors:

1. The current status of the map

are they really going to not allow alcohol on site? Or will it be run by Phish festival rules?

sorry, i don't spend my days here poring over this stuff

i check in here now and again, seems the few times I've passed by the past two weeks this is all I see splashed all over this god forsaken board.

there will be a phish fest - 99% of you will be doing whatever you can do to get there. you will have plenty of time to put your plans together. It's a festival where ample room and tix will be available for everyone. It's not Hampton. This band is based on leisure in my world, not stress and endless hand wringing.

"until we get ANY indication that this festival is anywhere else other than indio..."

umm, california got blacked out.
what more do you need?
i realy don't understand the emotional attachment to the hippie rumor mill some of you seem to have...

I obviously know there were no rules. I was stating that all you retards are acting like there were. Saying that Cali is gone and can't be brought back. why not? who said that was part of it? retards.

The funniest thing about all the hate and confusion, besides the fact that there is no truth or reality behind it, is that people think it got started as a "internet rumor". It got stated as a fact from people who organize and put on festivals. Is it really that hard to believe?

Actually California is the only state "blacked out" that has a logical method of coming back (i.e. landing).

What goes up MUST come down.

not emotional attachment or anything, just reality.

its not that we WANT it to be in CA, it just IS

kind of like how i don't WANT obama to be a fuckup, but he just IS

before cali got taken off, those were the rules per the general concensus here. once cali left, apparently everything changed to avoid admitting that people weren't as well informed as they thought they were.

Jerryfreak,Why do you think Obama is a fvckup? I don't....

He got put into a tarpit and now he's trying to get out... what did he do that makes him fvckedup? I'm not even political but I don't get it.

not hard to believe...but I'd like to see these 'stated facts' from these people who 'organize and put on festivals'...

I don't have any personal stake in this. I don't care where it is, I'm going to try to go regardless. I was believing the Indio rumor for a while because it seemed to be coming from the same circles as the fenway and red rocks news.
then cali was taken off the map.
maybe its a prank and maybe cali's coming back.
maybe not. i'm inclined to think not.

who cares about the map, really? you know, regardless of where the festival is being held that everyone will try their hardest to make it even if they are broke, or cant have time off from work, or if its in their backyard or on the other side of the planet, people will be there!
