So after the Greyboy All Stars finished throwing down on an epic third set...
Brooklyn Bowl employees had all of the people smoking go back inside the venue, and closed the doors - keeping everyone in... staff people said there was a situation involving "violence and weapons" and that it was unsafe to leave.
Did anyone see this last night? Anyone know what happened?

wasn't there, but heard from a friend who was there and equally in the dark. rumor was some kind of gang violence.
mt
No clue....but i know the cops were out and about around brooklyn bowl last night. They rolled up on me in a UC car while i was smoking my cigarette one hitter outside the venue on n. 11th st. before the show (which i do every time im there) After taking my id, leaving to chase a girl drinking and driving, and keeping me there for 30 minutes they let me go without a ticket and threw my one hitter in the storm drain. I was also tripping hard, one of the weirdest half hours of my life but i really enjoyed the show!
bump for curiosities sake.
How about that? There was some nasty police brutality outside the DSO show as well. I showed up right after it transpired, but my sister told me about it. Long story short, there was some blood and the police beat down some chick and managed to rip her shirt off in the process, exposing her titties.
friddle and Phifty were there last night and asked me to go. I talked to friddle today, but he didn't say anything about it. I hate that place. Surprised it wasn't two hipsters arguing about skinny jeans and PBR.

there has been annual (or close to it) gang violence in NYC around this time of year, with a decent amount in South Williamsburg

Wow- I'm surprised that you can die from a stab wound to the leg.
According to the posts he was a long time local known as Chunky.

You get stabbed in the femoral artery it can, obviously, be pretty bad(not trying to sound sarcastic).
This happened over on Roebling, which is AT LEAST 5 blocks from brooklyn bowl.
this isnt what the issue was.

^ on second thought, maybe they were looking for the suspect and didnt want a crowd of people flooding the streets making it more difficult...but who the hell knows...

Sean Taylor died from a gunshot wound in the leg. If a bullet can kill you, I'm guessing a knife would as well

Are you shitting me? there is now a bar or cafe on almost every corner...this is an industrial neighborhood full of big factories and manufacturing plants. We have been running steel via brooklyn for over 30 years. I was so happy when the city finally put up the orange land mark signs making it industrial only, stopping the fucking lofts and bars from coming in.
I was at bk bowl last night but left prior to the end of the show, still not clear what is being described here

You have terrible taste.

Having decent bars/restaurants in your hood is a bad thing? Sounds like an improvement to me.
