But also alludes to the fact that Vegas is comfortable in the fact that the public are on the giants.

Vegas does this to makemoney as much as anything else. Most money comingin for the G Men. The vig in theory would even out the bets. In reality 95% of casual betters don't even realize it changes. Most bets are being placed on Giants and Vegas is robbing the casual gambler blind by taking a 30% rip on what is supposed to be a 50/50 bet.

Never been to Vegas for Super Bowl- but did for national championship game in 2011. They did almost the exact same thing making Oregon -125 as most late money was trending to Oregon.

Which is what I said earlier.

To phoots point, yes Vegas loses if the G men win. And I believe they are comfortable with this position.

a little confusing, I feel I enjoy squares, and straight up bets with friends a little more.

Of course they are doing this to make as much money as they can, or maybe in this case minimize losses if the giants cover, much less win. In all my years of betting, I have never seen Vegas putting triple grease on any playoff game, much less the superbowl. I have seen this extra grease on online sites, but not the real deal.

That is why I think they are exposed. And while I am not a mathematician, I guess moving the line at this point gives them more exposure.

Then again, I might not know what the hell I am talking about. But obviously they want less people to take the giants if they are charging 30%. who would pay that? And that will probably move giant bettors to the moneyline. If the giants Lose by 1 or 2 points, someone is a genius.

I believe you are giving the public too much credit. The extra juice is to line Vegas' pockets IMO. I think joe public does not consider the extra they are laying to make their bet. They are thinking win, not what they're risking.

I don't know about that. They have to pay the grease up front. How could they not know?

Because they are bumping the juice and not the line. They feel comfortable in the position and want to charge the challengers to beat them.

If they were scared they'd bump the line.

This is just my opinion from running a book and notoriously betting against the public.

"That might be fine and dandy, but I have been betting NFL for at least 15 years....and I have never seen Vegas put more than the normal 10% VIG on action untio this year."

you've been gambling for 15 years and never seen odds other than -110 for a point spread? seriously?

On online sites, all the time. But during the NFL playoffs, I can't recall any. I may be wrong....but I never remember more than a 10% vig by the real deal Vegas casinos.

Disagree the 30% rip is to move bets today away from Giants. If they wanted to affect where bets were placed they would move the point spread.

This is solely a cash grab. They know that most of the bets placed will be on the Giants. Therefore most of the bets placed theyll get a 30% rip.

They would never move the line from the key number of 3 in such a huge game. I agree Vegas is probably comfortable where they are.

This....they know more people are gonna want to take the GMen and 3 so they are charging people for it.

My guess is they don't "need" either side as drastically as some of you seem to think. B/c they have such vig on the Giants, the "need" for the Patriots action has been mitigated.

Some of you really have no idea what you are talking about yet act like you know things with absolute certainty.

this comment is laughably inaccurate. Line was never 1.5

fwiw, on my site, the giants are now only +3 (-115)
