Old Forester is a decent cheap whiskey. It goes for about 15 and is basically Woodford that doesn't get bottled as Woodford. I got a bottle of Balvenie Doublewood Single Malt Scotch sitting on my counter. I really don't drink whiskey all that frequently though, outside of Phish runs and music festivals.

ive sneaked a bottle of russels into shows before. Shared with many people around me. When you are spun that shit sends warm rays of goodness to every part of your body. It was funny because i snuck it in inside of a plastic pepsi bottle that was flattened. Everyone thought i was giving them some crap liquor but they were all pleasantly surprised

The standard play is to bring a platypus bladder full of whiskey in your junk.

But for the same price you could have a bottle of Weller 12!

I'm partial to Wheaters, so that's probably my problem. And next run let's do a meet, I bring a flask of Pappy and you do your thing... by the end we won't give to shits or a fuck.

nothing like a good ol swig of crotch whiskey during a show. I usually keep an old plastic pint bottle; platypus seems like a better idea though.

The Balvenie is about 55 here. But it is accessible. You have to be on getting Weller, here, and like I said, I really don't drink whiskey enough to put in the effort. When I did the Greek runs, it was great. Trader Joe's in Berkeley had bottles of Balvenie for like 30 bucks. That was a no brainer.

I am too much of a cheap ass to buy multiple $10 beers. Whiskey is efficient and delicious.

No, I'm good on the beers. The Antique 107 is the shit right now though, but it's disappearing fast. Best deal for the money out there... rivals a good Weller or young Pappy.

I agree with whoever suggested Eagle Rare in the same price point.

Eagle Rare, Bulleit, Makers, Woodford would be my order of preference for the $20-35 range

But the good stuff is >$50. Black Maple Hill, Blantons, Jeffersons Reserve, Rock Hill Farm, Pappy 12 (I actually prefer 12 to 15 fwiw and it's much cheaper). Yum.

Signed,

From Kentucky where we take bourbon seriously.

Yum. This is one worth trying for anyone who hasn't. Good luck finding it at $50 locally though. Usually 60ish

fellow KY guy here. I tried the Eagle Rare a few months back after touring Buffalo Trace, pretty smooth. I rarely buy any bourbon that costs more than Woodford or Knob ,and Beam 7 year is the lowest I go. Bulleit is quality bourbon at a good price, especially here in central KY.

life is to short to drink cheap bourbon.
