The current frontrunner of the GOP, that's who. That's why we're arguing over this utter bullcrap - because the frontrunner of your party has made it an issue. That's where his priorities lie.

Politicians should have the knowledge and wherewithal to answer questions and speak on their own.

Can't believe I agree w/ jenkinsear, but I do

Politicians don't use teleprompters when they're answering questions/in a debate. They use them to give long speeches, 40-minute State of the Union Addresses, etc.

Santorum to Puerto Rico: Speak English if you want statehood

Source: Reuters

Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum told Puerto Ricans on Wednesday they would have to make English their primary language if they want to pursue U.S. statehood, a statement at odds with the U.S. Constitution.

Yeah that should go over well

We're really discussing their capacity for memorization.

All Presidents have speech writers. Whether they commit the speech writers words to memory, or read them off a screen...it's the same thing.

So, I don't really get the problem.

There isn't one. It's just desperate cons who have nothing else on Obama.

It is funny to watch this latest example of CONs arguing from both sides. For years the CONs screamed "All Obama is good at is making a speech!" Now they've switched to the other side, "PFFT! The guy can't even give a good speech! He needs a teleprompter!"

Other examples of this attack from both side are legion. Some other great ones:

"Obama is a Marxist socialist who is trying to kill capitalism" but at the same time "Obama is a slave to Wall Street and is selling us all out to fiscal enslavement under the banks, corporations and THE FED!"

OR

"Obama is completely ineffectual and unqualified for the job since he has NO experience other than being a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER and CAN'T GET ANYTHING DONE" but at the same time "Obama is a terrifying empowered insider who is actually a DEFT PUPPETMASTER who is controlling this entire country and sinking it on purpose to globalization as part of a vast conspiracy of which he is a central player DON'T LET HIS CASUAL MANNER FOOL YOU!!!"

These are in the same vein of the greatest CON paradox of "If you DON'T GIVE THE RICH MORE MONEY they WON'T HAVE INCENTIVE TO MAKE MONEY, but if you GIVE THE POOR MORE MONEY they WON'T HAVE INCENTIVE TO MAKE MONEY!"

Good gravy, each new Santorum outburst is more idiotic than the last.

We should be reading Seedybrick's defense of this shortly.....
