Google says 2 to 10 minutes. seems like a pretty wide range.

3-4 minutes for hard to firm 5-6 minutes for softer

tip for shucking: put it in the microwave for like 30 seconds. cut off part of the open end, then hold by the end that's still attached and shake it. the whole thing slides right out!

Take a whiff of the steam. When you smell corn, it's done.

Alright boiling. For future reference, do you grill it with the husk on for about 5 minutes?

you can grill it in the husk, or shuck it and wrap it in aluminum foil...longer than 5 minutes though, 15-20 is good..

Boil the water first to a full roll, then drop the corn in for 5 min. Pull it out right away, don't let it sit in the water.

My mother in law makes nasty ass corn on the cob...puts that shit in cold water, then boils the whole shebang, and lets it sit in the hot water afterwards. Nasty soggy waste of corn.

I like to boil for 4-5 minutes, then remove and pop it right on the gas burners of my stove, char it up a bit all around, top with lime, salt, chili and crema (mix of mayo, sour cream, water)...ultimate mexi style!

Wrap it in a wet paper towel and microwave it for one minute. It's really good.

Thanks for the tips. Turned out sweet after boiling for five minutes.

Throw the entire ear in to the microwave, husk and all. Cook for four minutes per ear. Three and a half minutes if it's a smallish ear. When you take it out, you can remove the husk *and* all the silks will come off.

Down with hairy corn!

steam it, not boil, for 7-15 minutes depending on how tender you like it and how fresh the corn is
early in the season (June to mid July) when the corn isn't local and a few days old I might steam for 15 minutes. later in the year when the corn is local and fresh 7 or 8 minutes is plenty
don't be stingy w/ the butter
