A great story about our burning man art project last year and how it impacted a single soul. This gives you a brief insight into why I LOVE to do what I do and a bit of the emotion that is involved.

Loved that, Lee!! I love how I was on the other side of the end of the burn with those wheels and took a pic. So rad to share the moments with the city. His whole photo shoot with the horse is neat to see. I wanna do that next year to something that is going to burn down.....Maybe this time I'll make it to the burn! Too. Much. Fun. Way too much fucking fun.

well we've got some more epic burns for you in store for this year. Something that perplexes me is how did I suddenly this year become the go to choreographer for big burns? I'm having to turn down requests at this point, which just amazes me. I want to do them all but know that I can't fully put my heart into each one if I spread myself too thin. I would have never dreamed I'd have such requests. Plus I wanna have fun at the burn too! The odd part for me is I have absolutely no pictures of the shit I have done over the years, I have to live through the eyes of others. But it is for others enjoyment that I do this, so perhaps it is fitting!

I finished my first draft for the Anubis show, I'm quite pleased with it and glad to get the ideas from my head onto paper (well computer).

Next year I'm going to go for my very own project. I've had an idea for a few years, its super technically difficult and I'm not sure it will even work, but that's no reason not to try. After all my best lessons have come from my most epic fails...

thanks for listening to my wine fueled rants! PT is somewhere I can talk about this stuff that is kinda hidden from the bulk burner world (or maybe not).

Yeah I love our little PT BMan haven...away from the BMan ruckus

Well ya know Lee, I don't do much in BRC because I am a third tier half tourist that is in it for mostly my own enjoyment, so I always take lots of pics.

Some good words from the eplaya:

"I'm involved in a camp that's been coming out for more than a decade. I'd be happy to see BM with no large theme camps, or no theme camps that were there last year, or no theme camps that got special tickets.

I'm not criticizing the people that decided to give out the tickets this way - they had a hard job that I don't want. They came to a difficult decision after more thought than I've put into it. However, I would have preferred to see "theme camps" crash and burn this year. Not because I don't love them, but because I think BM is both art and an experiment. If you're not willing to risk failure, you're not really pushing your boundaries.

Unlike a Gate line that takes two days, or $1,000 tickets, this particular experiment was pretty organic, didn't threaten to kill the event, but may have reduced demand next year.

Also, I love being a part of a shitshow."

I also like this:

"Marscrumbs wrote:
I want virgins to look around and wonder why they spent hundreds of dollars to be in this f'ing dust bowl then stay home next year."

Wrath wrote:
Really? I want virgins to see the sickest shit ever. I want them riding an airship sipping a mimosa wondering how the rest of the world is so behind the times.

Furthermore I really really want demand to quintuple next year. Force the issue."

sweet, tourist pix are good for looking at, assuming they post them!

HA I guess we could just use email since we seem to be the only ones rambling on for the most part.

I'm of the virgins in airships kinda view on the whole thing.

I was just looking at theme camps searching for people on the eplaya, and found this camp! Gotta hang with these peeps this year, its a plan.

SparkleSpaz HoboTron 20:12 presents Black Rock Candy Mountain!!!

We seek out BLUEGRASS PLAYERS so that BRC can get their APPALACHIAN STOMP on! Honkadelic, man!!!

* Are you a group of friends (2-4) that plays bluegrass together and just loves to jam?
* We have very novice bluegrass players in camp - we have a mountain dulcimer, a singing saw, some guitars, a couple tambourines (and some african drums)
* We are seeking some folks to create a better live bluegrass experience than we can offer with our own skills!!!
* We are a SMALL theme camp (~12 people, will max at 18 people)

WHAT OUR THEME CAMP IS ALL ABOUT:
Last year we were SparkleSpaz RainbowTron 20:11 and we were super excited about rainbows and gnomes and psychedelic spazatronic color explosions.

This year we are SparkleSpaz HoboTron 20:12 and we present the theme Black Rock Candy Mountain. If you are reading this far, YOU KNOW THE WORDS TO THE SONG! We want to have the most psychedelic spazatronic bluegrass hangout evah!

We have lemonade hobo punch, hobo body painting and Appalachian pikture takin' studio with hobotronic backdrops, we'll be cooling passersby off with our Minty Misting services, the Hunker Down - a ShortDome where folks can give their dogs a rest, and other hobo delights.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
Bluegrass players! Hopefully 2-4 friends, but we would also welcome singles. You can develop your own involvement in the camp. What do you envision for your bluegrass offering? We don't want to box you in and we don't want you to feel like we're expecting you to be playing bluegrass all the dang time like our personal bluegrass slaves. When you feel it, you feel it. We offer our camp services during the day, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't also love a late night jam. Drama-free, no sparklepony types. We want a good match with camp dynamic. Read below to read about us.

ABOUT OUR CAMP MEMBERS:
This is our second year as an official theme camp. We are in our late 20's to late 30's, but we love all ages! We hail from Wisconsin, Georgia, California, and Washington mostly. We're all really nice people with wicked senses of humor. Some of us are daytime partiers, some of us are nighttime partiers. We'd like to think we have the perfect size camp: small enough that we can all have a blast together and feel like a family, large enough where we have the resources to really make something great for the community, but without requiring "scheduled work shifts" like large camps.

FOR INFO:
PM me! Or on facebook you can find our page if you search SparkleSpaz HoboTron. Let's get this bluegrass jam STARTED!!!!

this just in....BLM permit renewal contains an option for them to expand the capacity by 20,000 if they see fit. Any ideas on bribing the BLM to end the ticket mess this year?

things you only hear on PT

‎"The authorized officer would determine the maximum population within this range for each year of the five-year permit." All depends on how much the "authorized officer" feels like raising the population limit the first year.

this is all for the 201-2016 permit in review as we speak. Comments on the EA were due by April 1.

The ticket mess is already chilling out. People who want tickets are getting them more and more as time goes by. STEP has worked for a handful of folks I know. Its still not the same as it used to be, BMan is always changing and the dynamics are going to be different year to year.

I am afraid this MIGHT be my last Burning Man, at least for a couple years. I cannot afford the ticket anymore, and I am not willing to volunteer all summer to possibly get a freebee. I think its the best event in the whole world and I "would miss anything for it", but I dont know if I am ready to "miss EVERYTHING for it". It just sucks not being able to do much all year just so I can make it to Burning Man. I really cant see many shows or spend time with out of town friends much anymore. The whole hype freakout is kind of annoying me. And I am suuuuuch a third tier burner, I refuse to make it the center of my life so I really cant give it my all like some people can, and I don't want to. So I go, serve some drinks, make some signs, share some herb, and have some fun. Fuck everything else.

BUT....I am sure when I leave BRC this year I'll be saying the complete opposite. FUCK. FUCK FUCK FUCK.....Why does it have to be so enchanting? Why cant I just let the douchebags win?

you can't stay away! third tier or not you're still a burner! mwahahahahaha and you don't have to volunteer all summer to get a ticket. I do what I do cuz I love to do what I do so I do it, DO, do do

also you know any bands who'd wanna play an Oakland fundraiser on the 21st? Our band backed out at the last minute. Not sure I know any bay area bands. HELP!!!!!!!

Ask Dooki Doodle or Snail Trail! hahaha

Le dont tell me you could afford a $400 ticket
» snowlover (OP) • Thu Apr 12, 2012 11:12 AM Process-stop Flag_blue Delete_user Mail-reply-sender Ip Quote
thanks those are both fine ideas and right up the burner alley.

It would be less time for me to le earn $400 to buy a ticket than to do the work I do to le buy one. (look at me speaking french, zsu zsu wood bee so proud!)
