I like what I'm hearing there, and I definitely agree with viewsofasecret that it could benefit from some more color, as he put it. It's really interesting hearing other people's musical creations as they're first getting into making tunes. The programs can be overwhelming! I never seem to be able to put in enough time into learning the ins and outs of any one program before I get frustrated and go do something else! This was the first track I made, although it's obviously not an original. Used Fruity Loops, never learned how to really master a track. I've also wanted to go in and nuance the drums and make the transitions a little different. However, I think the monotony of it sorta works. I've posted it before, but I think only one or two people have listened.

Here's one I worked on today, admittingly, it's not as good as my last one

Sound great esp seeing all done on an app...listened to a few of yer tracks. Keep it up
Thanks Donnie! Very kind..... Any feedback on the recent stuff?
I think you could use some variation in the rhythm of your hi hats. Eventually there is bass drum variation. It be cool to hear some electric keyboard under everything playing some lush chords, that would definitely set the mood. Also a general melodic hook of some kind. Everything that is going on melodically is great but very background or counter melody esque. I dig how the whole thing develops over an extended period of time, but I'd like to hear more going on with the bass and drums eventually. The 8 bit sounds that come in are great, I'm all about that shit. Cymbal crashes are very useful in connecting sections of bringing in new ideas, as well as cymbal swells.
I did two projects for school in the last year that kinda made me think about stuff like that, feel free to check them out for some ideas and what not. I think you have some great ideas, for sure. Don't stop making music.

Give it to Brownie and Chet-dogg to remix, they will turn it into a womp banger in no time.

Is nanostudio the best app for producing? Any other recs?
@iLoveDinosaurs - Thanks for the feedback! I will definitely try and start working on the drums/hi hat variations and adding cymbals, I find it difficult sometimes to tell if those would "fit in" while I'm making the track, this last one they would have fit in for sure. In regards to more keyboard melodies, I'm getting mixed opinions. Some people I've talked to think I should have more keys and some say less keys but more bass and drums. I suppose it's individual tastes, but I personally like more keyboard rhythms. I'll keep in mind that I could always lay a underlying rhythm to help the song flow through better. I'll check out your links and follow you on SoundCloud.
@Jonnyho - I've used a good amount of iOS music production apps. NanoStudio is my favorite so far since it's robust but lends well to beginners, plus you can download drum banks and synth sounds from the web then transfer to the app. There are some other apps that an audiophile might really dig like Sunrizer, Korg iMS-20, Multi-Track DAW. The iMS-20 is the app I started out with. For apps that are more "fun" to work on I suggest Korg iKaossilator, Looptastic HD, Reactable, Moog Animoog, Loopy HD. If you use Abelton on your Mac/PC you can get Touchable as a controller which looks pretty cool.

Wow, thanks. I really appreciate the input. I have the Animoog...it's wicked fun, but I can't figure out how to record anything longer than about 30 seconds. Have you used it? Hmm, Nano may be best for what I want to play around with...
you've got a good sense of melody, but you need to work with a real program and better synths. The sound is too digital and cold, get some analog gear! If you can't do that, put your tracks through a good compressor.
@Inverted - no, I haven't tried recording with Animoog yet. I'm interested in playing with it more though, it's cool that you can have something in the background playing then open Animoog and jam to it....no clue about recording though.
@Burst - can you tell me more what you mean when you say putting the tracks through a good compressor? There is a mod in NanoStudio called "TCE-1 Compressor", is that what you are talking about? It has Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, Output... but I'm not sure what it does. I know what Attack and Release is and know that when I use this mod it makes the sound smaller, but I don't know how to apply it as you are suggesting. #stilllearningshits.

Again, thanks to everyone for taking the time to listen and give feedback.
OP, I bought Nanosudio --- any tips
love the first track until the bass cuts out at like 1.45 or whatever, kinda lost some momentum there for a second. still reminds me of a dribble jam though.
Yeah Jonny
In the trg drum kits you can quantisize by selecting the beat and holding down the button, 1/1, 1/2 1/4, etc..
When you have a beat or synth you want to repeat, go into song and highlight the instrument, hit more then convert to pattern. Use the icons at the bottom to extend the selection thus repeating the patterns.
Play with the mixer and sound effects on each instruments
Go to the NanoStudio forums for tutorial vids, sample and trg bank downloads, read how to transfer the downloads from Mac/of to device using nanosync
Have fun! The tutorials and forums are a huge help

i think this track would be better if the first 8 bars of the intro led to the first 8 bars of the outro
Thanks guys, sounds like everyone is getting the same impression, my stuff needs "more flavor/pizzaz" ........ now, since I'm an idiot and am still learning can someone elaborate a bit more? More synths? more drums/cymbols? More of what exactly?
Jackpottt - Thank you so much, very nice of you.....I can upload the track to my PC and get it in a download format, I'll try and do that soon. I'd love to hear someone rage on top of this stuff, lol.
