From what I understand, this isn't necessarily the idea for Amsterdam. The idea was more for the border towns, where people who live near but not in the Netherlands will cross the boarder, get their goods, and leave. I don't know where that article is, but it's basically what the last poster put...
my brother has a farm near Rotterdam ,which is a short drive away. If you wanna hang & crash out for free ,feel free to tell me. I'm sure he's gonna go to the Milky Way to buy tix day of issue.
Only around 270 days to go!

hey mer......
the euro is still close to where's it's been Euro / dollar $1.3142 / $1 ..... it's fluctuated a bit recently though.
we're still keeping interest rates loose into 2014 and many countries may be loosening too -- the dollar and all currencies are going continue to debase for a while.....watch gold. oil could continue to breakdown even further over the next few months as it's had 5 straight downward days which is reare..........that could help prop up the dollar but don't count on it.
nothing landmark to impact the trip.....my suggestion for everyone to bring more money than they originally planned...probably between 10-20% of your budget. Esp if you're hittin Paris. Esp if you're hittin paris.
let's really do this people!

BillyRay-
Nice analysis. The amazing thing about the euro, is it almost always wants to come back to $1.35. I've been to every JitD, and three of the five times, it's been 1.35 including the 1st one in 2005. Here we are seven years later - same price.
My advice to everyone is - and let me shout - CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD BANKS/COMPANIES BEFORE YOU GO and let them know to expect charges in foreign countries. In addition, I never bring money anymore, I just use the ATM. Dutch banks (at least for the last years) don't charge a usage charge, you get the bank exchange rate, and you only carry around a small amount of cash. I'm sure Germany is the same. Forget travelers checks, stores hate them.

Hello Jam in the Dam attendees:
All Good Presents and MissionTix have made the decision to Go Green for Jam in the Dam VI!
Your tickets will no longer be shipped to you. Instead, log into your MissionTix.com account to generate your PDF tickets. Use our iPhone app or navigate to missiontix.com/mobile and bring your smart phone, iPhone, Android, or Blackberry with you to the Melkweg Box Office. We'll scan your digital PDF ticket and provide you with your festival laminate at that time.
Don't have a smartphone? You can still print your PDF ticket out and bring it with you to the festival (you'll still get your laminate). This is the best option for parties comprised of individuals who will be arriving separately.
Please note: The printed and digital ticket will have the same bar code and will only be scannable ONCE.
We're currently processing refunds for your shipping cost of $4.25 directly back to your credit card used to purchase tickets. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for processing.
The Melkweg box office will open at 6:00PM/18:00 on March 14 and 7:00PM/19:00 on March 15 and 16.

I know a room just opened up at the bed and breakfast I booked in Amsterdam because a couple we originally planned with had to back out.We are staying at Hotel Weber. http://hotelweber.nl/weber.htm
And yes, the canal cruise did sell out. I know of a few people who didn't get tickets in time. We'll keep our eyes and ears open for extras when we get there Wednesday. :)

Passengers, not boat, are high.
This is a possibly a one night stay: Arguably the nicest place to shack up in Amsterdam.

Mer,
What flights are you taking? I am looking to get in Tuesday as well. Booking my flight this week. I have not decided where to fly out of or what airline, but flights are cheaper now than a couple weeks ago.

And, if there is anyone deciding last minute to get in on this...it looks like I am solo, so I will have an extra Pass that I will receive with my package. It includes, Jam in the Dam Welcome Reception and Cocktail Party exclusive for travel package participants featuring some artists from the show (if that matters to anyone) and Poster, and admission to the VIP balcony. Message me if interested.

Tickets are available starting at 12pm Eastern on March 24 at jaminthedam.missiontix.com at $225 Early Bird pricing, saving $60 off of the gate. In Europe, tickets will go on sale soon at www.ticketmaster.nl, and will be priced at 170 Euro for Early Bird. Single night tickets are available in Europe for 60 Euro.
So...
I can buy a Three day pass for $250 plus fees or I can buy each night on its own for combined price of $180 plus fees? Is this some euro-conversion rate i'm not picking up on or would buying it night by night be cheaper? Thanks

@Cherie - We are flying US Airways BOS > Philly > Amsterdam. The BOS > Philly flight is Monday evening and the Philly > Amsterdam leg is the overnight flight landing at 9:30 a.m.
@timmyptucker - that post is from last year (March 24 is after JITD is over) and I'm pretty sure the prices have increased now.

timmy- One day tickets in Amsterdam are now 70 euro, which equals about $90. So, with fees on MissionTix, it's almost the same price.
