tonight is the one year anniversary of the last time (hopefully) we will know a world with no phish. my life has changed so much since october 1, 2008. i was at an awful part of my life, stuck in a completely trainwrecked relationship, borderline failing out of school. then on october 1, 2008, i woke up to 7 texts and 3 missed calls. i hadn't been pt'ing too much at the time, so phish was at the way back of my mind. my initial reaction was that there had been a family emergency, but alas, it was friends and family telling my that my band was back together. i could not contain my excitement, i skipped class, reconnected with long lost phish friends, and since then, have completely turned my life around again.

it is stupid to say that phish's reunion helped me get my life back together, because that simply isnt true. but they did rekindle my passion for music, how much i enjoy playing it, and how it is the only thing that makes sense to me in the entire world. i started listening to my favorite albums again, like revolver, and started listening to phish again, and how fresh and new the world was. i have had a new, optimistic and music filled life since 10/1/08, and tonight is the anniversary of when i said goodbye to a sad existence.

ends sweet blog

i was wondering when someone would make this thread. i too will never forget the day i learned of phish getting back together. i forgot who texted me, but i was walking between classes. i immediately ran to the nearest computer lab, went to phish.com and couldn't believe it. my favorite band...and i would get to see them!

...

and what's this...the reunion shows line up with the first weekend of spring break?!?!? okay!!!

...a few weeks later..

what's this? one of my friends who i asked to request for me got tickets to the third night?!?!?! I"M GOING!!!

it was the best spring break ever...and i got to look forward to it since october 1, 2008. what a great day.

well shit, didn't even realize

what a great day it was

got a text saying "PHISH.COM RIGHT NOW," had no idea what was coming - figured it was some DVD announcement or something (wasn't on PT much those days, didn't see rumors) so when the writing appeared i yelled "HOLY SHIT!" arms in the air and my feet didn't touch the ground all day

didn't end up at hampton, but those 24 hours of being SURE i would go (and 110% sure i'd be seeing phish again sometime regardless) are a feeling i'll never forget

i was at an internet cafe in saigon when the news hit PT. i got serious chills watching that hampton painting video on phish.com. then i started cheering and laughing and scared the shit out of a bunch of vietnamese teenagers

hard to believe that was a year ago today

It's like remembering where you were when Elvis Died or JFK. I was eating pizza in the middle of no where with no internet. I got text from a friend and so it began back again...

almost exactly like my situation when this all went down. 12 shows later ive never been happier (15 after 8) :)

i had a bet with a friend that phish would come back before we graduated from college (may 2010). here is my initial email to him, he was abroad in london at the time:

I think you owe me one Phish ticket... yes, i said it. one PHISH ticket. We have to go to at least one of the reunion shows in HAMPTON COLISEUM.

farewell,

dan

his response to me:

dude... sorry to bother you with this message, but this phish reunitation is seriously affecting my soul. i mean, think about it slowly... real slowly... phish is joining up on that stage... that fucking stage... with the lights... and the lights going down... and you're there, and then the lights go down, and you have that feeling, which is indescribable, like better than fucking cumming during sex, like better than scoring the winning touchdown in the Superbowl, it's fucking weird and tingly and andrenalizing, then the music starts up, and it's real fucking loud, holy shit, phish is back and it's loud, it's like, my fucking relative rose from that insufferable coma after Coventry, and there you are, singin' that shit, sharing in a groove that is louder than sound, who cares what they play, punch me in the eye? it's like getting fucking PUNCHED IN THE EYE and we're there, to take it all in. Nice. Hampton. 3/06. Done.

Great thread.

Waited five years for that day.

Celebrated like it was an actual holiday!

i celebrated too - can any of you guys relive that joy?

the only time i can think that joy has been rivaled for me is when the lights went down on the coliseum at 8 pm on sunday, march 8, 2009. what a feeling

awww.

it was three or four days after my mom was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. it was bittersweet, but going to hampton (and all the shows I've seen since then -- such a good summer -- and my first Halloween show!) makes me very happy during a really, really rough time.

My mom died a month ago. I still remember the week: her diagnosis, Phish was back.

i had basically checked out of phishville after coventry
i wasnt bitter but it was over, and that was that.
someone who i never talk to (and isnt a phish person) woke me up that morning saying he heard something about phish getting back together on the radio...
then i sleepily fumbled the computer on and saw the video...
my life definitely got renewed in a lot of ways...what i really love is back again :)
